This foyer is a 90 year old black and white checker board marble floor in Birmingham, Alabama. A heavy coat of shellac had built up over the years and had turned brown. The color change wasn’t apparent because it was even all over the floor.  Also another stone polisher had delipped the floor and polished it back up pretty well but had left  poorly polished edging that showed pretty evidently on the black framing.  The Edging was why we were called in, they had no idea of the color change until…
