Bob Whitley Paint & Decorating asked Brilliant Services in Birmingham AL to come in and polish this limestone countertop. We have a whole lot of before photographs of of this countertop and all of them are pretty much like this one. It was etched mechanically and chemically.
After
We started of with 400 grit diamonds in order to hone the stone down until we reached unaffected, healthy stone. We continued on up the the grit levels until we had achieved the sheen the client liked, just under a high gloss.

Yet another example of the work we did for the Carmike Theater chain. This particular project was in Florence, Alabama. We traveled up there to clean the ceramic tile in the lobby, concessions area, and bathrooms.

What we had to do here is apply our cleaning solution about 20 minutes in advance, scrub the whole area with a brush attachment on our floor buffers and then rinse extract out the slurry with a rinsing agent.
That was one loooong night.
Before
This is a project that Coston General Contractors asked us to do in Bessemer AL. It was a simple, straight forward Dye and seal job. After we prepped the concrete to accept the dye we dyed and sealed the floor. This picture is after we have prepped the concrete and are about to dye it.
After
This picture is just after we have dyed the concrete and are prepping it for sealing. Unfortunately, we were not able to get back in after the sealer coat to get that picture because they had to move in and we had to start on another project so we never made it back out there.
If you have a basement that you want to spruce up this is a great way to do it. Nothing. And I mean NOTHING, performs like concrete.

This was a marble table top that had grown weak overtime. It was very dull and had multiple etch marks from glassware. We knew that two veins would break but four wound up breaking during the repair/polishing process. This is a picture after we forced the two veins to break so that we could make the piece stronger. We had it almost fully polished when we noticed two more weak veins and forced them to break too. We then started all over again with the honing and polishing of this piece to give the client a very strong and amazingly shiny table top they can enjoy for many years without worry.

This is the result of a lot of painstaking work. We snapped this picture just before loading up to return it to the client.

We took these photos to show that when we do a color seal project your grout doesn't look like it has been painted, and smooth. It just looks like brand new grout.

Now this grout is permanently sealed and is just as easy to clean as the tile.

This is a Limestone countertop project for Bob Whitley Paint and Decorating. As you can see there was significant etching and the gloss wasn't really clear.

We polished all of the countertops to high gloss and sealed them.

This is a red granite floor at the Viva Health tower in Downtown Birmingham that Brassfield & Gorrie was working on. This building sat empty for years with a guard station where this bathroom is now.
Right in front of where the toilet is now you can see exactly where the wheels of the guards chair scuffed up the floor over the years.

Now they have a crisp, clear, deep shine, and a richer color on their granite floor!

David Allen Company asked if we could help them out. Somehow this limestone statue had wicked up moisture while they were working on the floor. It was effected on all four sides. We said absolutely, and packed up our tools and bags and traveled to Chattanooga, Tennessee. By the way, you HAVE to go there it is a great place to visit!

After a lot of painstaking work we were successful! It took three trips to get it corrected but a combination of experience and persistence paid off. We just planned the trips around their schedule.

This is the lobby floor at Double Tree by Hilton In Birmingham, Alabama before we got started polishing, It had been sealed with some kind of top coat sealer and looked like a VCT floor.

This is a client that Imperial Marble and Tile in Birmingham, Alabama referred to us. This is a color seal project on a shower enclosure. You can see the inconsistency of the grout color due to mildew growth and staining.

Here is the floor after being color sealed! We did the whole shower enclosure but you get the idea with these two pics.

This is a white marble floor that was abused severely. Tony at Issis & Sons referred this client to us. They bought this house and asked if I could save this floor and wondered if it would look good if I could. It had some lippage, chemical etching, mechanical etching and a lot of scratches. The bathmats had been left in the same spots so long that they left etchmarks in a small waffle pattern. That was a new one for us.
After
We worked hard and smoothed out the uneven tiles, honed, and polished it up to a super high gloss even though it is a very soft stone.

This picture of a marble entry shows you exactly why you should never put acrylic sealers on natural stone. In addition to that you can see blotches from chemical etching, uneven tiles causing what is known as lippage, and fairly deep scratches all over.

Now that is a magnificent floor! Look closely at the reflection and you can see the wrinkles in the chair skirts. AWESOME!

This is a client that Issis and Sons in Birmingham, AL referred to us. This project was a simple clean and seal of the quartzite flooring. You can see just where the area rug was.

Cleaned and sealed and looking brand new. Quartzite, by the way, is harder than granite but has the look of marbles and slates. It is a fantastic material. Also, notice the deep rich coloring after we applied the color enhancing sealer.

This foyer is a 90 year old black and white checker board marble floor. A heavy coat of shellac had built up over the years and had turned brown. The color change wasn't apparent because it was even all over the floor. Also, a long time ago, another stone polisher had delipped the floor and polished it back up pretty well but had left poorly polished edging that showed pretty evidently on the black framing. The edging was why we were called in, they had no idea of the color change or what the floor could look like with a full mechanical polish until...

More cool stories:
This client in Montevallo, Alabama called us out to see if we could salvage their countertops. He had watched a few YouTube videos and felt confident he could save some money and do it himself. It didn't work out well. These counters were as shiny as your sidewalk when we started.
Harris-Coggin Construction asked us to install a non-slip epoxy floor in one of their clients garages. After discussing the options with her she decided to go with a white marble look. This is it just before we applied the non-slip coating. The blue painters tape you see in these two pictures was removed once the non-slip coating was applied. We didn't get a chance to take final photos because the rain was threatening that day and we just forgot to take some.
Still more of the same fantastic results for our clients.
Another beautiful granite floor.
Unfortunately I took all videos of this project so this is the only picture. What you need to notice about this is the reflection of the plastic masking we have covering the cabinets.and the clarity of the reflection of the lights. Tony Petix at Issis & Sons called me after he saw it and said he was truly impressed that we were able to get such an incredible reflection on a crema marfil marble. He went on to say that it had no swirl marks, no details were left unfinished. For those of you that don't know Tony, when it comes to natural stone, he's the man... so that compliment came as high praise indeed.
One client wanted a matte black epoxy countertop. This was a first for us, but since we have done this one other clients have requested the same one. Our epoxy countertops can withstand heat up to 500° without marring. Now we will tell you to not press your luck and to treat it as you would any granite countertop. Always use trivets, cutting boards and the like just as you would any other countertop to ensure longevity of appearance.
We were called in to patch a chipping and flaking overlay. We couldn't do that because of installation problems with the original (Not our mistake). We had do do a complete redo. This picture is just after our last application just before accent dying.
